About the Dancers

Dianne started her dance career at the age of 4, where she danced with the Lindsay Monaghan School of Dance in Newcastle upon Tyne. As a local champion, she progressed to competing at national competitions, and at World Championship level. Dianne was then taught by Margaret Robinson, followed by Barbara Slater, founder of Newcastle based Clann Na n Gael. In Clann Na n Gael, she not only competed in major championships, but she was also an active member of the performance group, where her love for being on stage developed.

On moving to Edinburgh, Dianne formed Absolutely Legless, a purely performance based dance group, who pride themselves on bringing traditional dance and music alive.

Absolutely Legless consists of over 40 adult dancers, many of whom have competed and won major Irish Dance Championships. The group welcomes adults of all ages and ability, with the focus being on sharing the Irish tradition through performances both at home and worldwide.
